Since they came into force in July 2003, Atex guidelines have protected against explosions and ignition from mechanical and electrical sources.

STM UK is an innovative power transmission solutions provider and following risk analysis of our gearbox range, we are delighted to offer a series of Atex gearboxes that meet Atex Category 1 conditions.

Our Atex gearboxes range has been designed to enable different sizes and types of gearbox to be combined with any standard ex motor using normal flanges. This enables mechanical engineering end users to choose the appropriate drive unit for their particular application within a potentially explosive environment.

Atex gearboxes applications

Ideal for applications in zones where explosive atmospheres may occur or environments characterised by the occurrence of combustible powders or gas mixtures, Atex gearboxes have undergone a special painting cycle which negates the problem of electrostatic discharge.

All STM UK Atex gearboxes are supplied with a specific user manual and a statement of conformity (according to CEE94/9/CE Directive, Enclosure VIII)

Designed for various industrial and processing applications – from marine and petro-chemical applications, to chemical processing - they provide nominal torque up to 8,500Nm, transmission ratios up to 3.300iN and output power up to 50KW.

Units are flexible, following a modular system that enables stages to be easily combined to suit the increasing torque being transmitted through a gearbox.
