STM UK are proud to offer a wide range of Atex certified gearboxes, the vast majority of the gearboxes featured below are available for supply compliant with Atex regulations.
Standard Line
Torque Limiter
The STM UK Torque Limiter protects transmission from overloads, shocks or any other irregularities. Outshining traditional gearbox clutches our Torque Limiter is protected from potential pollutants like water, oil or dust through being housed within the gearbox.
This Torque Limiter is reliable and easy to adjust from the exterior of the gearbox - simply turn an adjustable nut. It can slip for several minutes at a time without incurring damage.
Worm Gearbox
The STM UK Worm Gearbox is reliable and durable. It features housings, fixtures and feet made from SG-AISi UNI 1706. Steel Wormshafts are casehardened, hardened and ground and the thread grinding in the gear ratios is carried out with ZI-Profile.
This enhances contact between the toothed surfaces, reduces noise and maximises performance. The STM UK Worm Gearbox also features a G20 cast iron hub upon which a GcuSn12 UN17013 bronze casting is fitted.
CRMI Double Worm
The STM UK CRMI Double Worm Gearbox features cast iron G20 UNI 5007 housings, flanges and feet. Any smaller gearbox (28, 40, 50, 63, 70) uses aluminium SG-AISi UNI 1706.
ZI-Profile in the thread grinding in the gear ratios permitted by the module value enhances contact between toothed surfaces. The CRMI Double Worm therefore boosts performance and reduces operating noise.
CB – Helical Worm
The STM UK CB – Helical Worm gearbox has been designed using modern design processes for durability and longevity.
The CB – Helical Worm range features engineering cast iron G20 UNI 5007 housings, flanges and feet. Any smaller gearbox models (40-50) use aluminium SG-AISi UNI 1706.
Torque limiters equipped with stop devices and assembly on to variators may be applied to the STM UK CB – Helical Worm range.
RMI - Wormbox
The RMI-Wormbox range features engineering cast iron G20 UNI 5007 housings, flanges and feet. Any smaller sized gearbox models (28-40-50-63-70) use aluminium SG-AISi UNI 1706 for housings, flanges and feet instead.
The wormwheel has a G20 cast iron hub with a casting fitted in GcsSn12 UNI7013 bronze. Taper roller bearing or radial ball bearings offer increased longevity in the RMI-Wormbox.
VM Variators
VM Variators are oil lubricated variators that allow continuously changing output speeds by turning a hand wheel.
Our VM Variators feature biconical shaped satellites that transfer the friction and torque between inside and outside track. With variable exterior radial position, the transmission ratio may be modified.
High Tech Line
OM – Bevel Helical
The STM UK OM-BevelHelical gearbox has a rigid monolithic structure ideal for applications with weighty loads.
Housings and flanges are in engineering cast iron GG200 GG250 ISO 185 although size 63 and 71 of the OM – Bevel Helical feature aluminium SG-AISi UNI 1706 housings and flanges.
For further strength, the input shaft is constructed from spring tempered steel 39NiCrMo3 UNI EN 10083 and steel C40 UNI 5332 is used for the output shaft on the OM – Bevel Helical.
AM – Helical Inline
The AM-Helical Inline gearbox is stored in component form for rapid and flexible delivery. Foot or flange mounted with a choice of shaft size (accepting standard IEC flange and shaft). From 0.04kw to 150kw, the AM – Helical Inline gearbox is designed for longevity despite heavy usage.
PM – Parallel Shaft
The STM UK PM – Parallel Shaft features ratios from 2.6/1 up to 278/1, various mounting options, 0.09kw to 30kw capacity and acceptance of standard IEC flange.
Each PM – Parallel Shaft gearbox, shaft mounted gearbox or motor gearbox has 2 or 3 stages.
SM – Skew
The STM UK SM – Skew gearbox is robust and durable, featuring a high efficiency right angle gearbox patented to STM UK. With ratios from 8/1 through to 148/1, a selection of mounting positions and capacity of 0.08kw to 4kw, SM – Skew is a practical and efficient.
Planetary gearboxes
For customer convenience STM UK has created two ranges of Planetary gearboxes: the P Range and the Ex – Planetary gearbox range.
P Range
A Planetary gearbox from STM UK enables you to reduce the size and weight of your drive units. All within the STM UK P Range offer high axial loads capability relative to unit size.
Each compactly designed P Range – Planetary gearboxes: features a coaxial arrangement of the input and output, efficient torque with minimum space requirements and experiences low moments of inertia. Ratios from 3/1 up to 2076/1 are attainable. Torque ranges from 15nm to 300 nm and torque is high in relation to size.
The P Range is ideal for continuous, intermittent or reversing operations. Moreover, this type of gearbox may be installed in any mounting position.
Numerous ratios per gearbox stage are available thanks to four different gear stages

Ex Range
With torque ranging from 1000 nm to 28,000 nm STM UK Ex – Planetary gearboxes are ideal for continuous, intermittent or reversing operation. Torque is high in relation to compact design and size.
Suitable for installation in any mounting position, the STM UK Ex – Planetary gearbox features high radial load and output shaft and ground gears for minimal levels of noise.
Motors
AC 1 Phase Motors
STM UK AC 1 Phase Motors offer from 0.04kw up to 2.2kw; foot, flange and face mounted options are available. AC 1 Phase Motors also feature standard IEC flange and shaft.
AC 3 Phase Motors
STM UK provides AC 3 Phase Motors in two versions: DN – three phase double speed, and TN, a standard three phase motor.

All AC 3 Phase Motors meet IEC, UNEL, CEI specifications.
TF Brake Motors
STM UK TF Brake Motors are made by applying an electromagnetic disc brake onto an AC Motor which becomes operational should lack of current cause the motor (and any other devices connected) to stop.
Our TFP Brake Motors aenable a high stop precision when current is interrupted deliberately. If the interruption is accidental, then the safety margins of TF Brake Motors are high.
TFP Brake Motors
STM UK TFP Brake Motors feature 0.09kw up to 15kw capacity; AC brakes; foot, flange and face mounted available and standard IEC flange and shaft are suitable.
TFP Brake Motors are equipped with an electromagnetic springs brake. This works with AC current and the disk brake has double braking surface.
The TFP Brake Motors range has been designed to offer optimal release and braking precision, unrivalled braking frequency plus high starting frequency.
DC – Motors
DC Motors from STM UK offer a wide choice of powers, voltages and speeds with standard IEC flange and shaft. Permanent magnet and wound motors are available.
DC Motors are identifiable by their high start torque. The EC Motors series of DC Motors are very sturdy and compact, feature high quality balancing and operate at minimal noise levels.
